If algae is your enemy use rowa in a week a the hairy algae in my tank starts to fall of in 2nd week all gone.

Guys;

Seems like the macro-algae and pest algae will dissappear by itself after using rowaphos???

Currently I have only one problem, my sand bed. Diatom exist only there as my cleaners have problem removing it.

If I use rowa, will the diatom dissapear by itself????

Also rowa expensive, seen it at 35dollar... do I need to constantly replace it???

You need to change it after a while. How long? Easiest way is to measure PO4, if it starts to creep up, means the lifespan of the rowa is over and its time to replace it. Make sure you are running the Rowa in a FR for maximum benefits. HTH

So does the diatom comes off the sand after rowa??

the main purpose of rowa is to absorb mainly PO4 and silicate which serve as a fertilizer to fuel the growth of algae such as diatom and green hairy algae or even cyano algae .

the diatom will not drop off but will slowly die of starvation because the food is absorb by rowa . u can increase the flow of the water or decrease the photo period , water change to decrease the nitrate will slowly cause the diatom to disappear. or else maybe some snail ??

ROWAphos need to be replaced and when do u need to replaced depend how accurate your po4 testkit is . yes , once , it started to rise , it show that the rowa is exhasted.

No, do not rinse your rowa with water before using. When you first put it in the FR, initially the water in the FR chamber like coffee black, tune the low flow first. After the rowa is settled down, tune up abit until you can see the top part of the rowa is bouncing.

Anyway when using rowa, do not expect an instant miracle to happen. I used to have alot of diatoms, even though now still have diatoms but i can see it decreasing slowly after running rowa for about 1 month.

I still have ppt going on in my FR with the rowas

Think it's due to the fact that I connect it with my CR

Anyway, rowaphos are good and worth the investment

Why let algae eat up your whole reef which you spent loads on when you can curb it using a fraction of the cost :lol:
