I think it is called the electric or flame scallop. Occassionally some LFS do carry them but.......

R u an experiences enough to keep them alive??? They are non-photosysnethese animals so they get their food solely thru the water. In another word, U got to flood your tank with food practically whole day.....

I hope u know what I mean ;)

:) Greeting :)

Tank: 4' by 2' by 2' (CR antique)

Sump: 3' include 1' refuigm

hi deadmanz,

thats the flying scallop, and ive seen it at pasir ris farmway 2 before, think its at the ah beng shop. also seen it at aquamarin. its shell looks rough and unattractive, so its not likely to catch your eye if its tentacles are not extended. like kareen said, they are obligate filter feeders, and will need to derive their total nutrition solely from particulate foods which they then sift from the water, so youll need good flow and lots of phyto, and golden pearls/oyster eggs, etc. if you have a large tank, there might be less worries as a large water volume will harbour more substantial and more sustainable populations of phyto.

anyhows, if you do find one of these, and decide to try it out, pls do keep us posted on your progress, as it will benefit us all to know their success rates and all.

cheers,

ian
