Running equipment directly from overflow

Hi guys,

Just wondering how many of you guy out there pipe ur overflow directly to your skimmer or other equipments? Is it possible pipe the overflow directly into the chiller as well?

Trying to find ways to reduce the no. of pumps and let gravity do the work....

You should try not to share return pumps with essential 'nerve centre' equipments like protein skimmer & chiller...you will compromise on the effectiveness of the equipments. And don't forget that if ever the pump fails, those shared equipments will be affected too.

errr....i think he is refering to piping overflow to equipment and not from return pump......

anyway, i think those recirculating skimmers are piped directly from overflow......for chiller, i have not heard it been done before....
