for coralline algae you need strong lighting of a certain spectrum. people recommend the blue actinic lights (T5). most fowlr tanks do not have strong lighting so this might be a problem and coralline algae growth will be slow.

Be teachable always, nobody has a monopoly on wisdom. But learn to distinguish "fact" from "opinion".

In my opinion, lighting is required but it is not the most critical.

What u need is very good water flow. Keep your dKH and Ca up and Coralline Algae will grow.

PS. dKH will dropped faster than Ca. So you have to dose Reef Builder or other brands more frequently.

any recomendations on what dKH and Ca addictives

should i use?

I am using Seachem for both.

Dont have to buy the 1kg for calcium, I have gone through 1 kg of Reef Builder but my calcium is still 3/4 full.

I am dosing twice a week and manage to keep my dKH above 10.
