hmm ... sounds logical ... but do u have an ocean in ur tank???

cheers

i guess..mainly plankton and some other tiny organism are taken in by the corals..

thus we dont really need to go "hand feed" them every so often

i maybe wrong :)

plankton and tiny organisms are freely found in the ocean. they aren't found freely growing in your tank unless you introduce them. so except for things like clams and sps which rely on zoox for food, you should introduce coral food into your tank regularly to ensure they grow. people put all sorts of things in, phyto, zooplankton, mysis, cyclopeeze, etc. not sure whether all work but probably better than putting nothing in your tank at all.

Be teachable always, nobody has a monopoly on wisdom. But learn to distinguish "fact" from "opinion".

The only things which take phytoplankton are filter-feeders like clams, tubeworms, scallops, etc and other zooplankton like copepods. Corals need meat-based foods and they don't ingest phytoplankton. :peace:

Always something more important than fish.

Feeding your corals will help promote growth and colouration but dont over do it till it deteriorate your water parameters. The corals will prefer good lightings and stable water parameters. I dont feed my corals individually but I feed my fishes 6-8 times a day now. So the corals get whatever flows to them. I also off/on my powerhead for 15mins twice a day to create a different flow patterns in the tank and that helps to stir up detritus and particles that are trapped in certain dead spots. These suspended detritus and particles also become a food source for the corals.
