Have been hearing some clicking in my tank recently and guess wat happen today?

While I was stonning in front of my tank, a mantist shrimp swim pass under my nose. The feller is somewat 2cm in length, transparent with red dots. It stop and look at me for a moment and zoom into the bunch of rocks. :pirate:

Darn, dont even have enough time to react. :pinch:

Anyone here ever experience this and noe wat I can do to lure it out so that i can trap it?? :cry2:

Mantis shrimps are really hard to catch but you can try making a trap for it.

If you know the hole it stays in, you can squirt some kalk paste and catch it when it jolts out

Just a guage for the difficulty of catching one:

I had to use a vacuum cleaner to the highest power to suck out a 3cm specimen in my previous 2ft ;)

But if you tame me, we shall need each other.

To me, you will be unique in all the world.

To you, I shall be unique in all the world...

You become responsible, forever, for what you have tamed.

Mantist shrimp..Dentist shrimp..Lol.. It's mantis shrimp. Anyway I don't think most (if any) mantis shrimps you find are transparent with red dots. It might be a pistol shrimp? Pistol shrimps make more noise than mantis shrimps.

Always something more important than fish.

Mantis Shrimp......a good helper to clear left overfood. When i started my tank 2 years ago....i have 1...caught from Batam....then was so small abt 7mm, i didnt know it was mantis. Sometime later...abt 6 months, it grew to abt 3cm and the claws are showing well.

Now i have 3.....guess they multiply. they are abt 6cm. OMG they are huge.

Yes i do hear clicking/clamping sound often but at least i know they are fine.

I had this idea of removing them initially, but now they are living happily with the rest fo the community Shimps ie peppermin/fire/clear/ and my tile fishes too.

i decided to keep them.
