i have tried a mini beckett for my 3ft*3*2.6 tank but find it inadequate as i have heavy feeding...thus ...rather have a stronger skimmer for next tank at my relative place

Anyway, my vote goes to a dual needlewheel skimmer if its a Deltec/HnS and a large single needlewheel model for a BK. Maybe a BK400 just to future proof in case u wanna go even bigger next time.

anyway i find its a madness for a 3ft height tank..as i am experienceing back ache after aquascaping..

but my relative say its nice ...lots of room for coral to grow and after conceal by the hood and the cabinet a viewable area of only 2.5 ft

from you comment of heavy feeding, I say go for a step up from the manufacturer recommended model.

with the expensive electricity rate, probably doing a math on the comsumption of different skimmer type can be useful pointer.

i think as long the skimemr don increase the electricity bill too much its okay...

they are experiencing high PUB bills as they "ON" aircon like nobody busines...

To lower production cost and tackle space constraint, i suggest using fewer but stronger pumps eg 3000-4000lph.

I think a tank of that size, the model of at most 2 needlewheel type pump will suffice. The further you want to push will be 3 needlewheel pump. Any bigger, your tank will really need to be BIG...then again when it hit that kind of size, it doesn't make sense using a "quad" or more needlewheels, a special impeller type pump for that kind of size of skimmer will make more sense in terms of performance and cost effectiveness (both materials + running costs).
