SRC Member Melvyn Tan Posted September 19, 2005 Author SRC Member Share Posted September 19, 2005 No all powerheads and wavemakers specifically for water circulation are not to be counted. Looks like a fair bit has 4 pumps and above... Anymore votes ? SRC Member Eric Posted September 20, 2005 SRC Member Share Posted September 20, 2005 Just made a count boy am i suprised on the number of pumps i am running !!! Altogether 3 pumps for my present 3ft set up. If got chance upgrade, I'll probably use an external re-circulating NW skimmer and tap off the overflow to the skimmer with 2 external return pumps for reducing heat contribution and save some electricity in the long run. 1)Main return - 32HF 2)Chiller ###### return - Eheim 1262 3)Skimmer - 20HF Eric
SRC Member loster Posted September 22, 2005 SRC Member Share Posted September 22, 2005 i have... 1. eheim 1262 as 1st return 2. eheim 1262 through chiller and as 2nd return 3. skimmer feed pump, aquabee 2000 4. skimmer recirculation pump, aquabee 2000 5. FR feed pump 6. CR recirculation pump 7. tubby top-up pump man... thank goodness don't need to count powerhead... or else my list will be endless... SRC Member Melvyn Tan Posted October 1, 2005 Author SRC Member Share Posted October 1, 2005 It seems like majority of usage of pumps by people hovers around 3. One return, one skimmer one chiller/FR i presumme... SRC Member BFG Posted April 19, 2006 SRC Member Share Posted April 19, 2006 I have a question. I'm trying to cut down on the number of pump to be used in the sump. Can a 1262 capable to go through 2 FR and then to a chiller? Currently I have 2 1262, a 1260 and a 1250. Have not set my tank yet.
SRC Member Tigger Posted April 21, 2006 SRC Member Share Posted April 21, 2006 I think shld be no problem becos yr FR will only need 300-600L/H flow. U can connect yr FR in series. Assume minus some head loss here and there, there should be abt 2000L going thru yr chiller.

SRC Member BFG Posted August 6, 2007 SRC Member Share Posted August 6, 2007 Wow, an old thread revived! An update for my setup. Presently, I have 3 pump in the sump. 1x 1250-feed pump for APF600 1x 1048-feed pump for fluidised reactor 1x 8m3 -return pump Managed to cut down the pump number down to 3 from 4 with the 8m3. Previously was using the 1250, 1048 and 2x 1260 in the sump. The 2x 1260 was used for a chiller and as the return but now the 8m3 is used mainly as the return pump. My chiller do not need a pump to operate.
SRC Member onizukaa Posted September 7, 2009 SRC Member Share Posted September 7, 2009 using eheim 1262 externally for return pump. 1) ehiem 1250 - feeder for deltec skimmer 2) eheim compact 600 - feeder for UV.
chamty
using eheim 1262 externally for return pump. 1) ehiem 1250 - feeder for deltec skimmer 2) eheim compact 600 - feeder for UV. Hmm... I wonder if running a pump externally will help lower temperature of water... In my fowlr tank (without chiller), with: 1) eheim 1262 pump for return 2) eheim compact 1000 for algae scrubber 3) small (cant remember brand) pump for protein skimmer ...the temp is always above 30 degC.. Last nite, I modified the piping and moved the hottest pump (eheim 1262) outside the sump... hopefully will see temp drop..
