SRC Member AlfaRomeo Posted September 16, 2005 SRC Member Share Posted September 16, 2005 Guys, Im comtemplating adding the above fish to my SPS dominated reef. In your opinion how 'reef-safe' is it? Also, if you have personal experience with the species. Pls let us know your findings and how the fish is generally. Thanks!
SRC Member happy Posted September 16, 2005 SRC Member Share Posted September 16, 2005 I've one in my tank for quite some time. It'll finished up 2 open brains, zoos and occasionally nip at clams too. * I've ample feeding( 4 x auto feeder and 1 x henry's food daily) but it just like fleshy corals. It doesn't touch sps though. SRC Member Reefaholic Posted September 16, 2005 SRC Member Share Posted September 16, 2005 Me too, waiting to find out from fellow reefers here. Does it eat cynarina? Bubbles? Frogspawn? and elegance?
SRC Member AlfaRomeo Posted September 16, 2005 Author SRC Member Share Posted September 16, 2005 Happy, wow! Dats a bit dangerous. Any idea if it touches your blasto, mushrooms, other LPS?

SRC Member Reefaholic Posted September 16, 2005 SRC Member Share Posted September 16, 2005 Heard they like xenia and zoos. Do they eat sun corals?
SRC Member AlfaRomeo Posted September 16, 2005 Author SRC Member Share Posted September 16, 2005 http://www.zeovit.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3679 Above is a link for more reefers experience with the Regal Angel.
SRC Member akahoshi Posted September 16, 2005 SRC Member Share Posted September 16, 2005 Hi bro alfa, Regal angels are totally safe with SPS. They may touch LPS if they are not well-fed enough though, however, they are not softies-safe. They whack mushrooms, zoos, xenia..
SRC Member Reefaholic Posted September 16, 2005 SRC Member Share Posted September 16, 2005 What about rics?
SRC Member akahoshi Posted September 17, 2005 SRC Member Share Posted September 17, 2005 Rics ah.. Since they are from the mushies family, i wouldn't take the risk.. esp. if your rics are florida rics.. too costly if the regal decides to sample it. SRC Member happy Posted September 18, 2005 SRC Member Share Posted September 18, 2005 Hi, I've a ric yuma and florida corner in my tank (abt 1 feet sq. area), the regal does not touch them. Bubbles are safe too, only open brain and zoos are goner with regal angel.
SRC Member madmac Posted September 19, 2005 SRC Member Share Posted September 19, 2005 Go for it. I'm keeping one, IME, he leaves the blastos/mushies/leathes/toadstools & SPS alone. I find pygmy taking shots at the SPS/LPS more often. Zoos/people eaters/star polyps are a NO. Setup a connected refugium for your fleshy corals/zoos...? SRC Member AlfaRomeo Posted September 19, 2005 Author SRC Member Share Posted September 19, 2005 LPS like prata/blastos/hammers/bubbles/frogspawn is not at risk rite? Only softies like mushies/xenia?
