Anyone can help me get clear water

I am thinking to do so running Ozone but will this help as I do not know what is causing the the dust as I always find this small particle recirculating in my tank. I am using Grade 0 sand.

it is confirm dust not bubble, very annoying to see these dusty water always moving in the tank.

1. did u wash ur grade 0 sand b4 putting into ur tank?

2. use filter wool, change out regularly.

3.run carbon, change out regularly.

4. run ozone, with caution.

5. regular water change.

6. check position of wave making devices, wrong placement might cause sandstorms.

someone once told me to run wool filter for a while just to 'polish' the water. i.e. remove the dust in the water. then remove it as it's a nitrate source/change veri regularly.

filter wool is to remove fine solid particles that you describe as dust.

to polish the water, you use carbon.

Yes use activated carbon, you get crystal clear water.

1) is the wavemaker blowing at yr sand , you need to observe for some time as it take some time before i notice it blowing gently

2) run carbon as some bro say and add a piece poly filter will be even better

and as for the carbon before putting it in soak it in boiling water for 5 min first

Carbon will remove yellowness in the water but not help with the dust flying around. Use filter wool to trap those. I had major problem with the 'dust' when I first started and filter wool solved it.

Majority of the the dust in my tank came from the sand that was being swept by the currents/flow. once the sand settled down, the dust reduced tremendously.

Yet another reason to go Barebottom!

But also first time I heard of that. You can soak in RO/DI water for 24hrs to remove most of the PO4 leaching out from the GAC will do.

yah, no flying sand doesn't mean crystal clear water

Yup, does not quarantee but issit easier to get clearer water free of particles with barebottom when compared to those tanks with DSB or SSB or any kinda sandbed?

I only get sand dust if the sand is not rinse throughoutly. Did you rinse it good? But my filtration always clears the milky/dusty water after 2-3 hrs when sand settles down. Strange....

Care to describe what you have for filtration?

u guys must have known the term of activited carbon , yes soak it in boiling or hot water for 5 min that my knowledge of carbon of course just my 2 cents , to activate it and it works for me

I was using PUR-II by aquapharm..My water became really clear after that.

Does carbon need to be soak in hot water? Izzit that we need to put in hot water to activate the carbon? If let say the package already state is activated carbon then we no need to put in hot water????

As far as I know, you dunt have to soak it in boiling water or hot water to activate the carbon. Just wash it thoroughly to remove the loose carbon dust and you can soak it in RO/DI water as a precaution for leeching PO4 for 'lower' quality activated carbon.

agreed.. that's the wrong way to use carbon man...

in any case I don't know how crystal clear you want your water to be or how dusty is it now... but I'm sure every tank will have some particles fluttering around...

for me I use a small piece of filter wool...
