BTAs in same tank

Hi Guys,

Some questions which required solutions:

1. I have 2 BTAs. One was small and the other really huge.

Due to the constrainst of my tank (2 x 1.5 x 1.5), They're placed reallly close together, almost side by side.

It has been like this for ard 2 months.

Will there be any problem for them both to be so close together?

2. I have an adult tomato clown and 2 true perculas. The tomato is always targetting one of the percula. And it is hogging BOTH the anemones!!

If I decided to shift one of the BTA away to the other end of the tank, in your opinions, will the tomato leave this anemone and let the 2 perculas host the anemone?

Thanks to those who bother to answer me.

The BTAs will move even if you seperate them. If they are the same kind I dun think will attack each other. But it is really not a bad idea to give them some space.

Give the space for the anemone does split the territorial dominance of the tomato clown. Perculas clowns are common target of other clowns as they are much less aggressive. They dun do well if always being bullied, split the anemone if they dun move.

One of the percula is always bullied and the other is left well alone!

The battle-hardened percula already left only abt half a tail and the back fin is almost gone!! But this has been a week or 2 already.

It has now resorted to hiding under a rock "cliff" and seems to stay there all day long.

How can i nurture the percula back to its former glory?

Can separating the anemones allow one of it to protect the perculas?

Hi, me have 3 BTA now. 1 fire clown, 3 false clown.

all 3 BTAs are well spread out. they seek their own mooring points despite my best efforts to present them better.

fire clown(bigger size) claims all 3 BTAs. jumping from 1 to another. It jealously guard & chase any intruding fishes esp the 3 smaller clownfishes.

I've seen the 3 smaller clownfishes spending the nite in 1 of BTA while fireclown had oredi settled down for the nite. out of line of sight of the other.

next AM, it chased the 3 smaller clownfishes all around especially if they dare even point towards that BTA.

my delight in them able to share the BTAs was shortlived.

The tomato clown will take it one at a time. It will definitely attack the other well one if the weak one perish. Dun bet on it that it will be okay. Check if anyone wants to adopt the tomato clown. For me I rather keep the percula...

Decide fast.

Once the attack stop, the clown will recover over time provided she eats...

bro, i have kept 2 BTA in a 20 gallon tank b4. Previously 1 b4 it split.

Yes, due to the relatively small space, i would say it common for tomato clown to dominate 2 BTA. I had maroon hosting 2 BTA at the same time.

withcommon clowns hovering at a corner. fortunately, these common clowns are not aggressive as compared to tomato or Maroon.

Tomato clowns are one of the aggressive clown fishes along. Same goes for Golden maroons.

In a 2ft tank, I wouldn' advice keeping tomato & percula together. Even for my 4ft tank, I'm skeptic in keeping any other clown with my Golden Maroon.

When you were introducing the clown fishes in your tank, which species went in first? Percula or tomato?

Some people have mentioned that if you introduce the less aggressive species (in this case, percula) into the tank first, letting them establish their territory, and later introducing the more territorial species (ie. tomato). Some reefers have had luck with this method.
