Boxer shrimps

I currently have a common boxer shrimp in one of my tanks, together with 2 skunk cleaner shrimps. I'm wondering if it'll be ok to add in another boxer shrimp (the gold banded boxer Stenopus zanzibaricus)? Or will the boxers fight to their deaths? And are these boxers compatible with small fishes like gobies and small perculas?

Thanks!

Hmm..think you might be referring to S.cyanoscelis where they have blue/purple legs? S.zanzibaricus is larger and the claws are whitish and they have 2 big red spots at the abdomen. S.scutellatus looks like S.cyanoscelis but I presume it should be S.cyanoscelis as it is found in our region.

Anyway, these are not hermaphroditic shrimp. So males will fight with males, females will fight with females. The only way you might safely pair them up is by judging by the size. Pair them like clownfish, separate them with a permeable barrier first. They probably associate first using sight and maybe smell.

Yes, due to their small size..they are relatively safe with gobies and small fish.

However if it turns out to be S.zanzibaricus it might not be so safe with small fish due to its larger size. The adult size is about the size of an adult common boxer.

Check out the article in one of the threads below named "Pairing your shrimp". There's a small section on how Stenopus species pair up. Cheers~

Always something more important than fish.

The boxer shrimp does not stays well with another boxer, or other shrimp like skunk shrimp. Provided they are able to avoid each other in a big tank. I keep them for 3 months before one will just be remaining. Thats my experience, but can have more if tank is big enuf for them to have unpleasant encounter.
