no need to panic one.....1 day without chiller your coral wouldn't die one....just turn off all light and use fan......repairs can normally be done in a day or 2.....anything more then that its usally cheaper to just buy another resun.....

Thanks for the reply.

So far haven't had any major probs with my tank but somehow, I feel it's a major time bomb.... my worst fear would be to come home and find everything dead....

Guess I was being overly worried.

think there are some reefers out there who uses a gadget which cuts off the lights in the event where the chiller is down and the temp keep rising.. i dun know what is it called or where it can be found and at wat price.. but wat u mentioned does make sense...

maybe some reefers who had used it might wanna share on this.

I DIY the temp controller to cut MH when temp goes above set point. if you want it to run almost by itself, may be you should consider invest some $$ to items below:

- temp controller to cut MH, you also can DIY it so that additional Fan will run when temp goes above set point. This will assume no chiller is running so fan will be the device to cool it. but you need to ensure water top up is happening.

- water top up device.

- water leak detector to sound an alarm if you also worried of others... !!!
