Dear Reefers,

I still a question before start :

1. am I still using live rock which I already use or must to change it with new one ?

2. should I add macroalgae in my tank system ? how if I don't ?

3. what is routine maintenance job after i run with Barebottom tank ?

4. should I change ALL the water in my tank with new water ?

5. I am using natural sea water for change my tank water. the water always contain Nitrate. So if my tank go to BB who will export the nitrate ?

best regards,

Jeffry

1.) not necessary, you should still be able to use the current ones.

2.) no macro algae is needed.

3.) your live-rocks will start to shed detritus and sand for abt 2 mths, you'll need to syphon them out.

4.) Since you're using NSW, you could replace as much as all if you want

5.) your skimmer should be able to export the nutrients. skim wet for best results.

what are you keeping? Do you intend to 'cook' your rocks? you got a pic of your current setup?

if already have nitrate in water how to export it ? because I think skimmer can't

for a start, you should change enough water to lower the nitrate level.

A good skimmer can, but not exactly in exporting the nitrate. It do so in the earlier stage = DOC. before it can turn into nitrate

I am keeping SPS now. and I am running with DSB now and wanna going to BB tank immediately.

If you have nitrates in the new water?? what/how do you want us to help you... its you who is putting it in... It jus sounds like you're complaining abt it and expect the BB system to clear it out for you. It can.. by the bacteria/phyto in the system, which gets skimmed out... but it sure will help if you put in clean no3 zero water. :)

giant, with the cleaner water, the rocks will clean itself out by bacteria tugor(sp)-pressure. It becomes into equilibrium with the clean water... if the waters are cleaner than rocks, the rocks become cleaner if the water is dirtier than the rocks, the rocks become dirty
