Box fish..

Hi.. v happy today, juz got a baby box fish abt 2cm for my 2 ft tank. Read the forum n knew tat it will give out toxic when is stress or is dead. If my baby boxfish give out toxic isnt strong enuf to wipe out my 2 ft tank?? Need advice from the old birds....

Boxfish are basically quite hard to keep and feed especially in a community reef as fishes would disturb these small and slow creatures, thus causing them to get stress and therefore die.. therefore releasing toxins...

It would survive better in a species tank.

i have 2 longhorn cowfishes and a blue boxfish living in my reef tank. All of them are eating like pig, eating mysid, pellets and prawn meat and even stealing some from my pratas and cyanrina

Hi, I got e baby boxfish in my 2ft tank for almost a week.... so far so good,

eating like a pig

My 2 false percula, bi-color blenny, blue tang and sebae clown does not disturb

the boxfish at all and they seem to be living in harmony ....btw, the boxfish is

always a loner, cant be bothered wif wat e rest are doing...except feeding time!

Hey isnt normal for my boxfish to be 'smokin'? i saw the box fish 'kiss' my LR then got 'smoke' came out of it..

The like to nip on liverocks in search of something it is normal. Boxfish is quite challenging to keep but once it starts feeding should be fine. Try not to disturb it as to prevent it from releasing toxin.
