FuEl
Ask for it to be packed underwater. If you must lift it out of water, only do so when its fully retracted in its skeleton. The long-tentacled plate normally will do well, unless it is injured to begin with. Such specimens tend to have tissue receding from their skeleton below and the tissue will continue receding upwards. To prevent such incidents don't put your plate coral on any rough surfaces to begin with. Best to place it on the sand and make sure nothing will fall on it. Avoid specimens with small or partially inflated tentacles, these are usually not well. YES THE ABOVE IS VERY IMPORTANT !!!! i got 2 plate from 2 different lfs. 1 was properly packed and its opening daily in the tank and eating well too ... and the other was taken out of the water while still balloned with water. as the packer took out the plate, u can see the plate "cough" out the water. knowing this, i still take the plate home, coz dun wan it to die in lfs ... now abt 3 weeks with me but neber fully open b4 .. but at least start eating mysis liao hope it can recover ... cheers
