How do u guys feed the frozen cubes of mysis shrimp to ur fishes?

1) Throw e whole cube into e tank and let it melt

2) Melt it first with water, then slowly throw into e tank

3) Fried it and make tempura then feed e fishes :P juz kidding

4).......

Can fellow reefers suggest whats e best / easiest way of feeding??

I use Method 2 but find it abit tedious.... wan to try method 1 but i tink might cloud e water :(

Most of the time, i use the Kodak film round container, pour 10ml of Garlic in it then throw 2 cubes of mysis shrimp let the mysis shrimp melt and soak the garlic for about 30 - 60 mins.. then pour a bit into the tank (with the garlic) wait for the tangs to finish then pour a bit more... blar blar blar...

But at time very lazy then just throw 2 cubes into a open-ended tube extended into the tank's water, let it melt in the tube.. the mysis shrimps will sink to the bottom of the open-ended tube and the fishes fights for the food..

CHEERS!

I melt the cubes in a glass of ro/di water

Empty the water and fill it again

Empty it once again, straining the remainder water and then feed :)

Bro, your method is cheam man :o but i tink your fishes will certainly

enjoy the meal..

I juz use normal tap water (purified by my osim tap adaptor,

dunno will it help o nt :fear: ) to melt e mysis cube :erm: , will it have

any ill effects? Have u tried to throw e whole cube in without melting??

Cheers! ;)

Hey! That is a good idea.... only melt mysis shrimp will detach from the cube and sink to the bottom. Can show a picture of the tube in action in your tank?

:) Greeting :)

Tank: 4' by 2' by 2' (CR antique)

The only problem i see with this method is thatthe highly nutrient liquid from the mysis cube will also enter the tank. Not so good for those aiming for ultra-low nutrient water conditions

(think you are referring to me hor?)...

agreed, the highly nutrient liquid will enter the tank.. me lazt mah... anyway, maybe can wash the mysis first then throw in tube for coral target feed or confine feeding area so the mysis won't draft all over the tank... ya?

:P

Hehe... I melt the mysis and soak them in Galic guard den freezr them again.

made a feeding cage made of statness steel mesh and hang it in the tank using a fishing line. The fishes got so use to it now they peck on the cage. Works so well for me I started putting all sorts of nonsens e.g seaweed, frozen sea monkey, lettuce etc etc......

:peace:

Hi all (for those concern)..

I have changed my feeding open-ended tube (DT bottle) to a PVC pipe, cut to the right length, hanging at the edge of the tank same as my drawing above.

The PVC is has more weight compare to the DT plastic bottle as such the open-end of the tube will not float at an angle like the DT bottle do.

(don't know whether you all know what i am trying to describe or not)...:lol:

Hi Rocks, agreed that the pvc has got more weight compared to the DT plastic bottle. I was thinking whether a see-through acrylic pipe, compared to the pvc pipe, would it be a better choice? <_< The reason is that the mysis cube thrown in the acrylic pipe would be clearly seen as to whether all of it has been eaten by ur fishes. Another would be it looks nice to have a see-through pipe hanging there rather than a PVC pipe there

Its just my thoughts, hope no offence :peace:

Yes. agreed the clear acrylic pipe/tube will look nicer.

As for me, I am okie with the PVC, I am using the white colour PVC pipe.. maybe I will grow some mushroom on the pipe...:lol:

Thanks for sharing !!
