A normal flourescent lamp will do.

No, the calcuim reactor/CO2 is used to maintain Calcium in the water and NOT ph. PH monitor is normally use with control to turn off the reactor if the ph of the water drop.

I am also using the Seachem Garlic Guard (less work).. and i paid $15 for it. Does it work? i guess so.. the smell definitely showed high content of garlic in it. And what u can do (if u are afraid of the contamination) is to wash the frozen bs/mysis shrimp with fresh water and after that soaked with the solution for ~10-15min. For me, i pour everything in including the garlic solution. I don't think it will cause any harm to the coral/fish. So far so good...

I am using just enough to soak the frozen bs. Something i also do that to the seaweed too.
