RO/DI Water really???

I know RO/DI water is the best for our tanks, but how bad is the Singapore tap water that we "die-die" must use RO/DI? Anyone's done any tests on the tap water here before? How bad is it for use directly for tanks?

My incoming water TDS is about 70. After RO/DI its 0.

Those anti-clorine treatments will not remove TDS so you are constantly adding unknown stuff into tyour reef tank when u do top-ups/water changes.

Issit worth it to use RO/DI? Your choice actually.

Total Dissolved Solids

Thanks Alfa..... what are those solids dissolved in there that are really detrimental to reef creatures? I'm just not sure which is better...TDS 70 or 0 or indifferent. It's almost like saying, spring water vs. mineral water vs. distilled water. Whilst they are different, there are no significant implications.

hi , mineral and spring water are the same . which contains natural minerals . Therefore TDS will be higher as they are dissolove solid.

As for distilled water. It is close to RO water whcih consider pure water with no minerals in water therefore it reads zero TDS .

For DI/RO system. The mix bed resin filter normally can last at least 5000L as after passing water thru RO membrane will have less than 5 ppm in water . the lower the ppm the lasting the resin filter.
