What is the reason for your maid to throw away the bowl?

But if you tame me, we shall need each other.

To me, you will be unique in all the world.

To you, I shall be unique in all the world...

You become responsible, forever, for what you have tamed.

Well My Domestic Helper..Not mine, but my mom's. Keeps losing my t-shirts. My Nike, Adidas, Pumas...All gone.

She claims she washed it and packed everything in my closet.

2 days ago..She wanted to close the lights in my sump...She dragged the whole power slap down which I clued to the wall of the cabinet. Again, she claims she doesn't know. All she did was pull out the cable of my PL light off the power slap.

With domestic worker employer's need to draw a line. In Saudi Arabia they have this master and slave mentality whereby the employer doesn't talk to the maid only when giving instruction.

In Hongkong also they will use the maids to the full extend of sleeping late till every housework is done.

For us Singaporeans we always say that they are humans too. Let me tell you about this maid mentality. They are not like us, when our boss is good to us we work better. For them if you're good to them they take you for granted and even test your patience.

I have a maid even with my maid I don't talk so much. Never ask about her background or how is life over there. Call me inhuman it's okay. For me I hire them to work not to joke around or be friends. Even she knows that if she done nothing wrong nobody will say a word.

Scolding the maid is ok because employer need to educate them as long as we don't physically abuse them. I seen alot of maid's character from those who get pregnant and wants to bury the newborn to those who took a kitchen knife and cut their wrist.

Just saying through experience being an agent.

flying carpet

you are maid agent?

Last night I found out,my maid gave out our home number without permission.late last night, her family called.i didnt let her answer cos it was about 11pm and she was already sleeping.

She is only with me less than 2 months and her work performance last 2 weeks was horrible.Calling herself a very experience maid, she is quite stubborn.I told her that she has to wash the beehoon before cooking. She cooked them without washing and can still tell me its clean, why wash....throw away dog bowls countless time and refused to go pick it back....

I m not sure if I should let her answer to the call. From my experience, the family will call for one purpose--money and she wouldnt be een seeing her salary till feb06.And the only outcome after that would be not able to work.

Advice please?

My family never hired a maid before but my girlfriend's family has one.

Everytime I go her house I would see the maid doing this, doing that way until quite late at night and she would have to wake up at 6 in the morning the next day. Sometime she would get scolded for some small particular matters. There was even one time when she fell asleep standing up while she was ironing the clothes !! Luckily nothing happened as my gf discover it and she only got a scolding.

I feel that it is hard for someone who to go to a foreign country and suddenly be able to do what is expected of her. That's why I dont think I would want to get a maid next time when I have a family.

cheers

i have a maid cos only my mum would be damn tire as she is now looking after my two children and one from my bro.... the maid is helping out on household matters and looking after the kids when my mum is cooking... so far k.. excpet that she somethimes talk in a manner which is 'too friendly' or 'too close' till bystanders think that it is too much for a maid to speak that way to their employers.... but i think that a better way of manging these FW is to treat them like another human and think for them as if u are in their shoes in another country for a living.... but lately got some demands...like one day off per mth which is not in the contract...but we're giovoing it to her as she realyy work very hard.... but if performance falls...then same goes for the request... :pirate:

Aiyah, let me solve all your maid problems lah..

Step 1 - Bring your maid to the free screening of "The Maid"

Step 2 - Tell her it's still the 7th Month and ghosts will ESPECIALLY haunt her if she doesn't listen and do everything you say.

And, vola! You have trained yourself an obedient maid! Err.. but then you got to worry about her nightmare problems lah.. hehee..

I always advice my customers not to let them call home only write letter. And I also tell them no boyfriend, no girlfriend, no handphone, no friends, no talking to neighbour's maids and always listen to instruction. Most of them listen but there are still 1 or 2 blacksheep.

Jaslyn for your case it is best to get a replacement before it is too late.
