hi there stardust,

pls try to identify the species of your anemones, or show us some pictures to help us better understand your situation so as to be able to help. you need to know the livestock youre keeping. also, tell us your lighting configurations and what your water parameters are like.

without knowing all that, this is just a general checklist for anemone health ya- not everything, but hope it helps.

first up, do you maintain good water parameters? is your ph above 8, kh 8-12dkh, nitrates below 0.05ppm, and temperature below 28C? because if you are not maintaining such parameters, then it is most likely that either one of these aspects is causing your anemones discomfort and resulting in their constant movement.

if however, you are maintaining good water quality, then the next important factor would be lighting. what lights are you running? most anemones are primarily photosynthetic and will need bright lightings (HO T5 or MH) to survive, and it is only when the water quality is good, and lighting suits them that they will stay put in one spot.

do you have fish that might be bothering the anemones by nipping or pecking at them? like butterflyfish or triggers (this only applies if you see the fish disturbing the anemones? and how is your flow dynamics within your tank. high flow, low flow??

Hi stardust, IMO, Anemones tend to move around when they are not getting enough lighting or are unhappy with the amount of lighting received at that current location, hence, the moving.

However, some Anemone species tend to move more than others too. For example, the BTA is a famous mover.

If your anemone have not stop moving, chances is that it will not stop so easily as he will forever unable to find the location that suits it.

Investigate if your tank is suited for anemone, or soon it will say bye bye to you.

Read up. They are light, current dependent.

yes most probably its looking for place with strong lighting. Just a word of caution from own experience, once it disappears into the liverocks ie MIA, start looking for body as a dead anemone wll very very quickly foul up yr water n then other stuff will start dying.
