Electric Hermit Crab eat Cyno?

Can anyone verify this statement (extracted from Electric Blue Hermit Crab from Liveaquaria.com)? What else eats cyno? Is there anything that will consume diatoms too?

"The Electric Blue Leg Hermit Crab is a valuable addition to an aquarium because it will eat algae including green hair algae and cyanobacteria."

Narita... is it the type that may wander out of water? I think I had 2 of those, which eventually left the water and died outside the tank.

hmmm all my hermits that are so called reef safe.. eats meat one lei ... but some time so see them muching on coraline aglae..........

Even the articles on WetWebMedia regards cynaobacteria also mentioned that some hermit crabs do eat them, but didn't specific any species.

I believe its kind of hit and miss, as hermit crabs are opportunist and scanvenger. Their diet comprise of many things, meat, algae, etc. Probably cyano is not their favor food.
