Yeah, thats wad I thought, but when I added the sponge, it limited the flow rate, thus causing the skimmer the overflow at the collection cup.

Anyone got any more ideas? Or am did I do something wrongly?

Anyone else using bro lester's method and succeeded?

hi there

Im using a macro skimmer too. what i did was i used those filter sponge that is high in density, then i sort of wrap around the outlet pipe of the skimmer, creating up to abt 2 to 3 inch to the length of the pipe, as if i extended it.And for better effect, face the end of the pipe towards the tank wall.

Hi akahoshi,

I am using a Macro needle wheel skimmer, AS-150 to be exact. Ur skimmer is placed in sump or hang by the tank? Usually in the first 3 days of use, there will be a lot of micro bubbles coming out from the outlet. I hope you are not referring to those. They will disappear after 3 days..

To minimise the "spray" effect of the output pipe, maybe you can allow the water to flow thru plastic sponges (those black spongy ones). Do not use them to block the output pipe as this would cause the pressure in the skimmer to increase. This will cause ur overflow cup to fill with more water. Hope it helps.
