Skimmer not ozone proof

Hi,

Just found out that my skimmer is not 100% ozone proof. Any suggestion from the reefer how to hook up the ozonizer? Is it a good solution to buy a cheap skimmer to run the ozone?

Heard that the Becketts we are using are not ozone proof but I'm still taking the risk

Got one of the first generation of reef maniac skimmer. Checked with Joe_P and was told that some parts were questionable, e.g. the blue connector on the air intake.

Any of you have tried and not have any problem? Don't want to have a leak and problem later on.

I am also using RM fist model and the sealing on the connector has started to turn black and flaky

better don't play around with ozone,its not good for human & fishes if contact directly.

wat about the beckett injector itself?? its plastic.

I know the o-ring rubber wont last the ozone given exposure, if there is any.

Coralife and some German brands do manuafacture Ozone Reactors...

if you worry for the skimmer, you can hook your O3 to a ozone reactor. Coralife and Schuran do sell them. Schuran are for freshwater but the Ehiem pump they use I suppose they are saltwater ready too.

In fact it isn't difficult to DIY one if you are good with your hands.

A cheap 2nd hand weipro would do the job, after it is gone you can change it again.

Bro , it doesn't come cheap , the last time I saw it on a US web selling for SGD110.00 . Let me know if u r interested cos my friend is returning from US soon , can ask her help tompang for u , besides my stuff...

Thought about the cheap weipro method, but weipro is made of plastic right? So will be gone in a few days.

Bro Blueheaven I am also using RM 1st generation beckett.. any otehr concerns beside the blue plastic connectors? O-ring is another problematic parts??

Just about to use ozone but now think gotta figure out alternative ways to inject ozone into my system.. sianz...

u either use the ozone through your skimmer air in-take or ozone reactor. it is not very wise to pump the ozone direct into your water

Injection of ozone into skimmers have very good advantages which includes an increased effiecency of the skimmer.

The waste collector can also be used to help remove any excess ozone which might escape into the air

and not forgetting to add carbon to it
