how to keep a 2ft tank's NO3 low if without caulerpa ? cos i dun hv extra space/sump for keeping them..

i used to have alot of caulerpa in my main tank ... but recently i removed a lof them and did a water test, the NO3 raised from 5 to 10+ immediately next day :\

You'll need something which can lower the nitrates

DSB, vegetable filters, zeovit and some equipments can help

Wait till your macroalgae grow back to its former size, and don't prune that much anymore in future loh.

But if you don't prune caulerpa, it will crash your tank right?

ya .. if u dun prune the caulerpa will grow all over the places... corals etc..

but if prune, then it'll release back the nutrients ...

so i'm still thinking a way to limit it's growth on a piece of LR only.. if no then hv no choice hv to buang all the caulerpa :\

If you want to grow macroalgae to keep nutrients down, it's good to have a sump

If you do not remove the caulerpa soon, you risk the chances of crashing your tank. Especially when you are not running 24hr lighting

But then again, you might want to do water changes using DI water and good salt
