Hi

I have been considering converting my tank to bare bottom for the past 2 months now and I have followed most of the BB thread here discussing over the good, bad of BB tanks and how to go about converting.. etc

But I noticed that I hardly find full view BB tank pics posting here. Can some BB tank owner post some pics here? showing their rock scaping, circulation pump position, etc etc. I think it is useful if I can pick up a few tips when I finally set a date for my tank conversion.

:thanks::thanks:

Hi frd

Pls budget 1 full day!

I convert mine on Monday nite at 9pm. At 4am and still not done ! :(

Too tired to continue and went to sleep. Lost 1 of my Anthias and almost lost my corals cos i run my PS pump wit my corals in the sump w/o chiller.

Hv to continue next day at 9am and finished at 11am.

End of it.. still didnt like my rock scape! Sigh.. Without sand, vry difficult to scape.

Hi Alvin,

Are you BB owner also? what is your view on the cons of BB tanks?

CHEERS!

no..actually i have a thin layer of sandbed...but currently ###### it out while doin water change...the review of BB in this forum is gd that they reduce the PO4 greatly...n in no time...NO3 will be reduce...due to the detritus....

my 2 cents.. :lol:

With bare bottom, you need to have a strong and stable base.

If not you will run the risk of the rockscape collapsing and cracking the base.

as long as the rockscape is tight and stable enough..collapsing wun be a prob... :D

hey ... that's a great looking BB tank... so BB tank isn't that bad after all ya?..

anyone else has pics of their BB tank, please post here ... :thanks::thanks:

Yes, I read about the rock falling to the glass base concern.. make me worry also.. but i guess you people are correct as long as the base rocks are well / carefully placed i think shouldn't be a problem.

CHEERS!

more pics please :look::look:

Hi Frd

Yu can nvr be too sure if u hv a strong and tight base to prevent the rockscape from collapsing.

Wud rather be safe than sorry ! For all yu know, yu might decide to add a strong wave maker and tht might be the accident in the making.

Anyway, i hv been enquiring on where to get a thick acrylic sheet to protect the base. Hopefully it wl prevent the base from cracking if the day my rockscape decided to screw me up !
