Removing Excessive NO3

If I am not wrong, algae is due to high phosphates.

Nevertheless, you can reduce your NO3 either by changing some water in your tank or using a nitrate-reducing solution. I've been using a biological additive (Stress Zyme) and it's been keeping my nitrates to 0ppm. ;)

Sea Chem Stability is just as good.

IMO changing water is the best way of reducing nitrates although there are additives such as azno3 to reduce nitrates which in my opinion only offers short term solution.. as mentioned earlier phosphates is also a major factor contributing in algae bloom... so do check ur phosphates level... :)

Interesting product......but I would be broke if I use this method to maintain NO3..... :( (2 teaspoon for 10 Gallon  )

To reduce No3.....upgrade your skimmer, feed lesser, make frequent water change.

To reduce Phosphate or Silicate (primary fuel for your algae).......run FR, use DI/RO water for top up, reduce photo period (lightings), deploy a platoon of algae cleaning crew!!!! ........

If I remember correctly, I bought the small bottle for $12 and weirdly enough, it actually smells quite fruity! Solution is light-purple in colour too.

My tank is approx 100 gallon so I use about 10 tsp a dosage. ;)

Wow ... you been dosing your tank with this thing all the while? In average, how much does it cost you per month?

:ooh:

I just got onto my 2nd bottle. But generally, 1 bottle lasts me about 2months. Before this, I was using Sea Chem Stability. But in due time (a few months time), I intend to stop using these biological additives. By then, the bacteria in my tank would have been more established already.

by converting to bare bottom...phosphate will be greatly reduced...

NO3 will gradually fall...but it is a tedious process to convert..

:D hi bro

if u want u can try using AZ NO3.

I'm having a DSB system initial phase of my tank operation i had NO3 of 40ppm after using 2 bottle of AZ NO3 & doing 10% of water change when first started to use the product now NO3 measure 0-2ppm

I don't use the AZ NO3 on daily bassies anymore

However when i perform 10% of water change every 2 months once & i use 2 cap of AZ NO3

So far so good NO3 in control

Use row phos to control PO4 my tank measure 0ppm

Feed moderately

Last but not least best of luck

Cheers

Sound promising ... maybe I can try that out ...

But, is there a way to reduce NO3 in a more natural way? I dun think someone would go to the centre of the ocean and start pouring these chemicals ... hehe ... just enquiring ...

:P:P

:peace:
