Recommended Posts

My skimmer weipro 2013 with one cheapo pump (1800 Lph).

Already 2 weeks skim nothing, only thin layer of bubble form at the top of water level.

tank para:

ph: 8.2

kh: 10 - 11

salinity: 1.022

bioload:

1 boxer shmrip

2 small (~1") percula clown

2 small tiny hermit crab

Both clown and hermit crab just in my tank for 3 days. ;)

Worry why my skimmer skim nothing.... :(

Me also using the ah weipro. pump flowrate is 2000lph. Think model is 2012 0r 11. Mine got some brown stuff. When I added in sugar into tank, my skimmer cup catches all the shity bubbles stuff. Maybe weipro can only remove shit when there are really a lot of shit. Thinking of changing to macro al brand...

Skimmers will still skim during Ionic Imbalance.

For those unaware, Weipro although a cheap skimmer have been proven to skim pretty well for an entry level skimmer.

The technology behind Weipro is very simple - venturi. Venturi is basically a simple device that mixes water with air and thus creates bubble.

Why some reefers decides to use other skimmer are:

1) Wanted finer bubbles thus went for Becketts or Needlewheel

2) Attracted by other cheaper skimmer that promises more such as Macro

3) Follow the crowd - monkey see, monkey do

Thus if you tune your Weipro correctly it will definitely gives you the skimate worth what you have paid for.

If you still have faith in this skimmer read Here. And if you still have problem tuning, PM me. ;)

Agreed..my weipro skims crap that is as thick as mud. Even cheap airstones placed in the sump will cause crap to collect at the walls of the sump. Did you raise the water level high enough? The water level should reach the bottom of the raised column and not the line indicated on the skimmer. It can be confusing especially if it is the first time you are using weipro.

Always something more important than fish.

Hahaha.... agree agree. The water mark sticker on the weipro skimmer actually show how deep the skimmer can be submerge into the water... any deeper it will go berserk  best results the foam level should be around 1/3 the neck of the collection cup... powerhead flowrate may varies.

so what flowrate is ok for weipro 2013? the sticker says 1500 lph... I use 1800lph and still need to close the valve half to have the water level at 1/3 in the nect of collection cup.

It depends on how far your skimmer is away from your pump.

e.g

- the dept your skimmer is submerge in the water

- the length of you hose between your pump and you skimmer

In other words if you skimmer is hanging very high up, you will either need a very powerful pump OR to close the valve more to get the foam level up to the 1/3 mark.

Hope it helps abit on the explaination.
