5ft tank project

Our new 5ft reef tank project. Used to have a 3ft tank but too small. 5ft is big - can house a real mermaid! Using Jaubert plenum design, with sump.

Real reefs don't have glass bottoms....(...think about it)

Yeah, i know about that from my previous tank, but I have treated/rust proofed the high rust areas of the stand (am in the corrosion removal business). Didn;t want a wooden stand, maybe could have done a SS stand. Will do next time

I added a chiller when we added the fish n corals. It lives beside the tank. Resun CL450. Temp is a constant 26.5 degrees. Some people will say that the CL450 is too small for a 5ft tank, but with the correct water throughput through the chiller it works fine. Chiller is on for far less than 50% of the time, so it is not overworked. During cycling (without the chiller) water temp was 28-29.5.

Real reefs don't have glass bottoms....(...think about it)
