Don't really understand what you mean but a protein skimmer basically removes DOC and prevents it from decomposing.

But if you tame me, we shall need each other.

To me, you will be unique in all the world.

To you, I shall be unique in all the world...

You become responsible, forever, for what you have tamed.

i am saying whether a tank can be run without a filtration equipment but install with weipro SA 2012 protein skimmer since filtration equipment and skimmer operate to remove nitrogenous waste and bring down ammonia, nitries & nitrates.

Don't think it is feasible, because if protein skimming is enough, then the other forms of filtration would have become obsolete.

Partly because no matter how much you try, it is not really possible to overskim a system. (unless you are talking about running a 32inch high beckett for a 1 ft cube :D) Nitrogenous base products are therefore not entirely removed from the system.

Just my opinion, what do you think? :)

ozy : thank for your comments... well... i think it depend very much on the size of the tank, things (fishes, coral, invertebrate) you have in your tank.

I have a small two feet tank with fishes and invertebrate, no coral at this moment.. perhap when time come :) for coral i will invest more equipments, also very sick to see all those equipements popping out around the tank, a very untidy look.... but of course, if i can afford to have a sump... that will solve all the problem.

Currently... been running my tank for almost one month plus with just the protein skimmer... and water look crystal clear to me.

That's good. I totally agree that the stocking level is important too. :)

Don't mind posting some pics and some specifications as well? Would be a good source of reference for me as well.

:peace:
