Is it necessary to test the PH level. At this moment now, I do not have any coral.

In my tank,

4 clown fishs

2 damels

1 small snail

5 feather worms.

topping up when time come. Patient... one at a time.

I always believe that there are 3 fundamental water parameters that have to be maintained :salinity, temp and pH.

I dun like to test pH.

I monitor pH with a Pin Point pH monitor.

so as long as u haf sth living in your tank, i think its very advisable to make sure your ph is right

you dun just test, you need to monitor it constantly. PH will swing thru out the day but fluctuation should be minimum.

Gouldien is right, invest in a PH monitor or a PH pen.

forget the test kit, the color readings are difficult to tell the slight difference anyway

You can get a decent PH Pen for $65 at a local LFS... save you loads of hassles

How often do we need to calibrate the PH pen? and use what medium to calibrate? How many point of calibration we need? at PH1, then PH7 then PH14?? Sorry to ask as I'm from quality department!!!!

You can get a pH monitor too, much more convenient. Calibration is required about every 6mths.

but why would we need PH 1? even if the accuracy offset by +/-1 point, they will be already dead anyway.

I said Ph1 and PH14 as we normally calibrate one at high point and one at low point for other equipments. This is normal SOPs for calibration in most industries.
