hi guys,

i just received a letter from the town council today saying that our block, and a few others, are going to be upgraded. however, the letter only mentioned doing a facelift for the area, and upgrading the lift so that it stops at every floor. nothing about adding a small utility room, or waterproofing the toilet.

anyone knows whats the procedure like? will they add more options as they go along? let me know any and everything. im crossing my fingers and hoping that they will add a small room and stop the toilet above mine from leaking. there are little stalactites(?) forming on the pipes. and i really don't want to know where the source of salt is from.... :o

thanks guys!

henry

Which floor are you staying at. If top floor near where the new lift will be built, prepare for a big headache and problem for your roof.

I shorten the story. Heavy rain, the roof will leak just like when I was living in kampong some 20 years ago. Must standby pail to collect water droplet. So important step like taking down the telephone nbr of the contractor is advisable so are the telephone number of your town council and HDB. If you don't complaint, they don't know.

The toilet problem- If there is a neighbour above you, they got to pay half of the cost for waterproofing and the other half by HDB. I had the same problem but my neighbour downstairs has the leaking problem. So my dad took care of half of the payment even though the toilet was never renovated when we got the flat.

If it is Lift Upgrading Programme-there are no other addition to your house area except for the lift lobby.

U go n talk to yr MP, he will write letter to HDB to engage contractor to do the waterproofing.

cost wise: should not be more than $1,200.00, out oF this $1,200.00, HDB pay 50%, upstair 25%, u 25%... so u will need to pay not more than $300.
