SRC Member Fishy Clown Posted September 13, 2003 SRC Member Share Posted September 13, 2003 Shark? Erm ok. Maybe it depends on the no. of days the egg has been fertilized.

SRC Member Fishy Clown Posted September 13, 2003 SRC Member Share Posted September 13, 2003 Caught from the sea perharps? Anyway they banded sharks can grow up to 5ft so if house in a 5ft tub will have to change into a bigger one. As in when they grow bigger

SRC Member stonefish Posted September 13, 2003 SRC Member Share Posted September 13, 2003 Banded Shark egg looks like dry mango seed.Be careful when u buy it from the LFS.If happen that there is air bubbles trap inside the egg when u take it out of the water, u need to submerge the egg to remove the bubbles. If not,the baby will die inside. It take abt 2-3mths to hatch and depend on when the egg is imported. When the egg is going to hatch, u can see that the surface of the egg is getting clearer. I think that it would be a good idea if you check out on any fishes before you buy lor.

SRC Member Matt06 Posted September 14, 2003 SRC Member Share Posted September 14, 2003 It depends on your eggs, it usually takes up to a few months before the egg hatch, you might like to check the size of the shark by shinning a back-light through the egg. After hatching, the shark is about 4" long and you need to nurse it and make sure that it gets use to your feeding. The adult size is usually about 40 inches long. Therefore, 5ft tank is still alright for it. Check here: http://www.exotictropicals.com/encyclo/mar...rays/bamboo.php You might like to check out Cor*l F**m for young banded sharks, so you can save the time of hatching and taking risk that they do not feed after they hatch, which will lead to death. But hnt seen any since they started at the new place. Mermaids purses are pretty cute to look at. But keeping shark is a different proposition altogether in term sof tank size.
