Hi, Weileong

I just wanted to share how the red bugs look like

as it was a very clear photo indicated in it

So my main point was just to share with the reefers here

i did a search here, and dun really find a good picture of how those

tiny red bugs look.........

And also the treatment they used.. i feel it might be useful to some

reefers if they will to encounter this problem in this future

So if you feel that wat i am posted is something taht make you feel

not so useless...or something extra...

Then sorry about that

Jeez.... I have to look even closer and closer at my SPS now!

I think I'll just switch to LPS corals... easier to keep! :P

Just get the Mesoscope to see :P:P

Would love to get one for myself if it had not cost so much :angry:

But if you tame me, we shall need each other.

To me, you will be unique in all the world.

Too many Sps pests nowdays.......

if we never open our eye and do a daily check

thinking that it is doing fine. . polyps opening fully etc

You might never know "one fine day..your Sps will be on its way to its dooms day"

To me. water parameter is impt , however that dun mean that will

keep those pests away~~ they are too small to be notice

So look out for those bugs before they destroy your precious sps

Really, if anyone willing to buy a mesoscope, or maybe we share the cost, it will be great to spot these pests.

Not forgetting taking the ultimate macro shots :P:P

I have seen some very nice SPS reef aquariums with red bugs. I am not so sure these tiny bugs are harmful . I have one reef with red bugs that is thriving with all types of SPS. My other SPS system is bug free but I see no difference in growth/health whatsoever. I am more concerned with Acro Eating Flatworms, which can harm your corals.

I now QT all SPS for red bugs, monti nudis and Acro eating flatworms. Since my intial post above, I have changed direction and agree that red bugs are harmful to Acropora corals, as witnessed first hand. I used three 12 hour interceptor treaments over a five day period in QT and my reef has been red bug free ever since.

Here are a few pics of my reef now ...including my new SPS QT system
