3 Questions:

1. Deciding between SEIO1500 or Tunza6080 for internal circulation. The Tunza is almost double the price of SEIO. Any advise?

2. Should the skimmer be turned off during cycling? How many days?

3. Any suggestion on rock scaping?

Thank you

Decided to put the coil directly in the sump (last chamber). Seemed to work quite well.

Temperature down by 0.2 degree per 5 minutes.

Interesting method :P Wonder if I can mod my chiller to this method too. Main body in dry area , heat exchanger/ coil in sump. Can show more pics and tell us how you did it? :P Hope to save some cost in the chilling part. Currently have a 2nd hand 1.25hp chiller.

Hi shootsimon,

This is the main body. The coil is a custom made titanium coil. I put it in a fast flowing area of sump just before the return pumps for best effect.

I am sure your chiller definately can be modified. You will have to pay for the new titanium coil. Price is around $200 per coil (I am using 3 pieces join together).

One point to note is that when the chiller is modified, the warranty will no longer be valid.

A friend who is in chiller business did this for me. Send me a PM if you want him to quote.

Hi teo,

Suggest you go for the for the Tunze.

For your tank size the SEIO will not be strong enough

to create sufficient water movement.

I feel that SEIO pumps are over-rated... the flow rate doesn't

feel as strong as the rated specs.

Spare parts for Tunze are more readily available, but not for SEIO pumps...

I regretted buying the SEIO M1100 :(

The SEIO pump(brand new) I bought stop working after 4 days

When i tried to remove the propeller to check i accidentally broke the

ceramic shaft. Then i found out that no spare parts are available to

replace the broken shaft :(

Good point! But $$ is quite limited now.

I guess I will have to save up for a while now.

Saw your post too. Nice work.

Thanks for the compliment. To be honest, my reef tank is running 3xSeio820 wavemaker bcuz i find the tunze too strong for a 3ft tank with LPS. My only tunze6060 is in the fowlr tank instead, kinda wasted. Reason why i recommend or in fact most reefers recommend tunze is bcuz of the low wattage and also long lasting.

Wavebox have to be added in early, if not future addition sure require rescaping of tank.

If i can restart my tank, i wiil invest in a 5-6 footer. Good work bro.
