Starting a new tank. Dimension 6x2.5x2.5 ft. Please give your comments.

The tank maker suggested using clear silicon for the bottom of the tank. He said it is stronger. He will use black silicon only for the side and Eurobrace. Any advice?

Are you sharing the compressor between your rooms and your fish tank?

Any other reefers using the same method to cool the tank?

Wondering what's the pros and cons of using this method. Whether it is more

economical than using a separate Chiller Compressor and running the

refrigerant to a heat exchanger for the fish tank...

Btw keep the pictures of the progress of your setup coming in...

The compressor is used solely for the chiller (1HP).

Well, the advantages of the using the split unit are:

1. No heat or hot air in the living room near the fish tank.

2. No unsightly chiller sitting next to the tank.

3. Small heat exchanger that can be easily placed in the cabinet.

4. No noise.

That's a darn good idea... if I ever get to redo the tank with minor reno to the house, I would definitely put the chiller on the other side of a wall...

Bro, very good idea on using aircon compressor for chiller. I had heard people saying about this but this is the first time I am seeing it!
