Speed Up Tank Cycle

Hi, i haf to set up a new tank juz for my percula...coz its too agressive...

i was wondering how to speed up the cycling process...

coz i really can't let my percula chase my fishes around and bitting em..

so far, it has sucessfully killed another percula..

bite off the tail of a firefish goby...

destroyed the feelers of my 3 cleaner shrimps..

and next its tauting my african clown...

very bad..

i using some of my old tank water to put into this new tank..

hope that helps in speeding up the cycling process..

any other way...then using sand from my old tank???

hmm can try the market prawn method... to kick start the process..

And also if you wana finsih the cycle process faster, try adding more bacteria.... till they get matured and you will see that your ammonia and nitrate level will go down...

My tank is now three weeks old.. and my ammonia is o and nitrate so pink that it is crystal clear,

if it's the only one percula that you have which is so aggresive, why not sell/give it away?... makes more logical sense right?

try to use chemi-pure..

it promotes bacteria.. and have been proven and i tried it myself to make cycling faster..

Speed up cycling? Try this.

1. Use sand from mature tank.

2. Use filter media from mature tank.

3. Use water from mature tank.

4. Throw in a couple of LRs from your existing tank.

5. Use a small prawn or half a prawn to get the cycle going.

That should be good enough. Tank should cycle in 1.5 weeks. Nitrate should be a little bit on the high side, but if its fish only, should be fine.

Remember to test your water first.

Why not use some thing to separate it from the rest for a while and see what happen?

Keep the temperature of the tank at 31°C. It will help the bacteria multiply faster but it will only shorten the cycle by a day or two at best. Other than that, there's nothing that you can really do to increase the speed of the cycle.
