another question on cycle

sorry if i asked too much questions.

due to the high evaporation rate, i have been topping up the tank with FW everyday during the cycling period.

is this wrong? will it affect the process? does this mean that the process will "restart" again and again because there's new water coming in?

starting to worry me.

was so worried that the new added FW will mean ammonia restarting to increase again :P

you dont have a chiller do you? or u have cooling fans blowing at the water?

I used to have high evaporation, after i get my chiller, only topup every 3-4 days

yup, im using fans, have to top up everyday :erm:

but im willing to commit the time topping up manually but only thing is scared the elements might decrease. :(

the problem i think with FW introduction is phosphate (spelling?), this will result in diatom propagation.

yeah the problem is nitrates and phosphates in the tap water. but there is no impact on your cycling (which is mostly about ammonia and nitrites) so don't worry.

having said that, unless you own RODI, gotta live with tap water loh, like me

Be teachable always, nobody has a monopoly on wisdom. But learn to distinguish "fact" from "opinion".
