SRC Member AREA51 Posted July 15, 2005 SRC Member Share Posted July 15, 2005 hello, would like to find out whether to turn off protein skimmers when adding addictives like trace elements, stronium, clacium, carbonate and iodide. if you bros do turn off your protein skimmers, how long do u leave it off? will that increase huge amount of ammonia and nitrite? SRC Member kschew1498 Posted July 15, 2005 SRC Member Share Posted July 15, 2005 Brother....I doubt anybody does that!?.....for me I dont.....I add dkh buffer, magnesium buffer, Kalwasser and Calcium dosing with my PS running...... Even if you are feeding your corals with DT, you can still run your skimmer (as stated on the instruction)........but then some people will off the skimmer for a couple of hours while feeding DT..... SRC Member AREA51 Posted July 15, 2005 Author SRC Member Share Posted July 15, 2005 so i guess offing the protein skimmer is 'leh-chay' just afraid that the nutrients will get skimmed away.
SRC Member ozy Posted July 15, 2005 SRC Member Share Posted July 15, 2005 Don't worry, most skimmers are not THAT efficient.
