Anyone using Ablerex UPS?

Hi guys,

I just bought an Ablerex UPS rated 300W 500KVA... using it to power 2 small pumps so that my tank won't die.. added up I think the pumps are rated about 150W at most...

Problem is, after I charged the UPS overnight and I turn off the power, the battery cuts in for 1-2mins then dies off. Subsequently I cannot even turn the UPS back on until many multiple tries later.

This happened to both units that I had. Am I doing something wrong?

Already contacted the Ablerex guys about this still pending. Thought some of you guys might know better.

Thanks!

Ervine

Your load's power factor may be too low causing the UPS to draw more battery power to compensate. The UPS also may not be producing a near sine wave output and added to a low load power factor may be causing too much harmonic distortion causing the UPS circuitry to fail.

USe UPS from APC, Liebert or MGE those that are designed for network or small servers. Their output is closer to a perfect sinewave.

managed to get a free upgrade of the UPS to one with some additional internal components... works perfectly now.. only problem is the UPS can only my chiller return pump and skimmer pump (total abt 150W) for about 20-30mins before it runs out of battery...

think i'll just let it run the chiller return only

why not sell it off at hardwarezone to those computer hobbyists. with new set and warranty can fetch a good price, then solve your sump tank problem.

nvm... i think i will still run the UPS but at the same time upgrade the sump... at least gives me some "buffer time" in case *touch wood* the power should trip again...
