gOTHIKa
hi everyone, juz bought a longhorn cowfish. Read about it from liveaquaria that they eat meaty and vegetable food. Crustaceans too. I was wondering whether they will take in BBS, mysis, frozen brine or cyclopeeze?? can everyone advice me a wee bit?
SRC Member Chris Posted July 11, 2005 SRC Member Share Posted July 11, 2005 BBS will certainly not be enough for them. Depending on size of your cow, give it either mysis or even small cut pieces of market prawn. Given time, they will also take pellets. Quote I think (marine) therefore I am
SRC Member ozy Posted July 11, 2005 SRC Member Share Posted July 11, 2005 Mine is eating like a pig. I am feeding, pellet, flakes and blood worms. They seems to like stringy food.

SRC Member diabolus Posted July 15, 2005 SRC Member Share Posted July 15, 2005 cowfish are pigs....they eat anything...BBS, mysis, anything meating u throw in. and their favourite snack? tubeworms.
SRC Member cornyfish Posted July 15, 2005 SRC Member Share Posted July 15, 2005 Yup, they love frozen bloodworms... But do be very careful when selecting them, do make sure none of the fishes in the shop's tank has any sign of white spots before buying any cowfish from that tank.. otherwise your cowfish is almost guaranteed to come down with ich and nuke your whole tank within a week or two. I had a very bad experience with them before.. the importance of proper selection cannot be overemphasized.
SRC Member Travy Posted July 15, 2005 SRC Member Share Posted July 15, 2005 Bro paiseh.. hijack abit. Since we are on cowfishes... Anyone can advise if they are safe with LPS and Larger shrimps (Eg, Cleaners and boxers)? Saw some very small ones at pasir ris last time. Less then an inch! CUTE! Thinkin of adding one (Maybe not the small one la, maybe the long horns) but hav to clear some stuff up. -Are they sensitive to water conditions? -Compatible with other boxfishes/cowfishes? -Do they readily adapt to aquarium life? Just wanna know from other reefers' real life experiences. Quote My Tank Save A Horse, Ride A Cowboy

SRC Member diabolus Posted July 17, 2005 SRC Member Share Posted July 17, 2005 no problem with LPS, and i think its best that your shrimps have to be at least L size, and also avoid small hermits, snails etc. Tubeworms and cocos are a big no no.
