dear reefer,

Like this fish very much, but after some research, it is not meant for beginner. I have seen some picture from reef central ,local reefer as well as public aquarium keeping it alive for years eaating well and healthy.

can you share with me the experience of keeping this fish.

MI are easy to keep provided they are able to accept prepared food.

The problem with MI is their diet, most are finickly feeders that feeds on specific species of sponges in the wild. Thus when they are brought to captive systems, they will starve.

So the first and foremost aspect of MI is getting a already feeding individual from the LFS in the very first place.

Marine Life, our sponsor have been known to sell MI that willingly accept frozen prepared food.

According to Henry, he will not sell MI that does not feed but will take it upon himself to slowly nurse newly acquired MI into feeding before selling.

That's why whenever you see MI in his shop, they are often booked already. ;)

Good luck! :peace:

yup. when you think of MI, you think of ML. :D

it takes alot of patience. I had tried one from other LFS b4. threw in everything into the quarantine tank, including Henry's home made food, no chance. It rather starve itself to death.

I saw how Henry fed it, With the SAME kind of his home made food, they ate

maybe this explain why his MI and AT are in high demand

The cue is to get a MI that is already feeding. It helps if there is no competitors for food in the tank. But it is certainly not a fish to put in first, espcially if tank is new. It needs good water and plenty of rock to peck.

Reef safe or not will depend on luck. But it often pecks on corals that are dying, giving people the impression that it kills the coral. At least mine doesn't peck on healthy coral and eat everything from pellet to mysis.

I think (marine) therefore I am
