I have come out with the following sump design. Wanted to replace my old sump with this.

Please feel free to comment such that I can make appropriate changes.

May i ask wht are yu trying to achieve with the new sump layout?? Wht do yu find lacking in the conventional sump? Thanks.

PS..May i know wht drawing s/w are u using for the abv diagram?

if the skimmer pump flow rate is much greater

than the return pump, the compartment will dry(in take from tank)

or u experience back flow

I always wanted a refugium in my sump as such this design, of cos' also due to my current sump tank is not working very well for me also lor..

what drawing software for the diagram? ... errr... its a sophisticated software call MS PowerPoint ..

Nope not in my case. The skimmer pump flow rate is not greater than the return pump... not even close...

R u going to use a chiller?

If yes i think u should t-off from the chiller pump to ur ref.

So that the the water from the maintank can be skim by the skimmer before reurning to the main tank rather than spiltting it for the ref.

Just my 2 cent.

Most likely a MD55 or equivalent. Btw, the pic I post not my sump but I got almost the same idea.

OK. show us your design if you have it on drawing.. we can discuss. I have mine done and now in operation... very happy with my design and working well for me.
