Beckett Skimmer overflow

Recommended Posts

Am using Beckett Skimmer for my newly setup tank and do not know why the skimmer always seems to be always overflowing. Thought the water would spiral in the lower half and only the waste will circulate upwards?

All I get is white foam being dispense as waste.

Any way to control to volume of water being skimmed or control to speed of the skim?

Please advise.

I was just like you when i started using beckett skimmer,

step 1: Try to tune airinlet at the top valve to 2pm or other

step2: Try dry skimming first (lower neck -observe that no overflowing)

step 3: Try observing the color skimmer water surface after a day or two if it has dirt of a line of impurities.

step4: if step three is obeserved , start fine tuning it till the bubblet just reach the brime of the skimmer tip.

continue feeding fish, and soon your skimmer will be fine

BTW get a waste collector, it will help prevent a flood

Thanks for the advise.

Have adjusted the airinlet. Works great!

Am not using a waste collector but using a 1.25 litre bottle to contain the waste (cheap and easy solution, hopefully it does not overflow :))
