Do your LPSs have "mood swings"?

Hi guys,

A bit silly question but do your LPSs open fully at times but at other times completely retract (almost completely) for no reason?

Seems to happen to my hammer and bubbles... hammer more so recently

Thanks,

Ervine

hm... i've never fed them before... is there really a need to? I've read sometimes feeding them might be doing more harm than good...

any ph swing? or addition of additive? If not, then shouldn't be a problem. Corals reaction can be a good indication of sudden changes in water parameters.

I dun feed my corals with prawn meat weekly rather will focus on monthly basis....as some reefers does. maybe u can checked your water parameters...maybe something went wrong? these is what i suspect...a swing in water parameters may afftect them... ;)

got add additive but only mildly... but it's not all of them which close up.. like take turns like that.. one day it's this bubble, next day it's the hammer etc...

Some corals are more sensitive, some are less, some more tolerant, some less and the flow also that carries the additive also play a part. That's why some will react immediately, some will react later.

Its best to add additive as slow a rate as possible to minimise stress to corals.

Oh ya, LPS also reacts to the lights shut off time. Some will automatic shrink down 30mins before lights off.

Monitor your PH closely. Ph fluatuation is a very fast & good indicator to the water condition.
