don't think it improves the water much in terms of what is important for a reef tank. you might as well use direct from the tap. water from both sources will still contain phosphates, chlorine, chloramine and nitrates. you should get a DI or RO/DI unit if you really want better water quality for top-up and water change.

Be teachable always, nobody has a monopoly on wisdom. But learn to distinguish "fact" from "opinion".

IMO:

If one can direct drink the water, its good enough to direct pour into the tank.

I'm using Diamond water. Family use higher priority than fish use :D

Of course, if you can effort, RO or DI water will be the best.
