Gouldian
Hi Sis, Leaving it empty would suffice. Rav65 is right, ceramic rings may be good hosting ground for some nitriying bacteria but they needs constant cleaning to ensure that deritus do not clog and in time becomes a Nitrate factory. Your LRs and sandbed will provide enough space of nitrifying bacteria to house thus coral chips and ceramics are frown upon now a days by reefers. Happy reefing. SRC Member cityofangels Posted June 22, 2005 Author SRC Member Share Posted June 22, 2005 I'm going to be running a DSB. Currently my sandbed is only 1.5inch. Will be increasing it to about 3-4inch. Skimmer is a 2nd-hand set which my friend passed to me. I don't know the brand of the skimmer.
SRC Member cityofangels Posted June 22, 2005 Author SRC Member Share Posted June 22, 2005 Plant some macroalgae in the compartment Yeah.. I was thinking of having a refugium later down the road..
RAV-65
I suggest u leave it empty too... Eventually, you can plant some macro-algae... as for the skimmer, upgrade when you have the chance, it's probably your most important piece of equipment now beside the lights and wave-makers in the tank...
