Redang pls...unless u guys talkin abt the burger heh... :P

Visibility in almost any dive/snorkel site depends on a few factors (rainfall, lunar cycle, monsoon, etc...) so always assume the worst when u plan for a visit, as expectations can make or break a holiday...

If u want best budget, try tioman, but u have to source for boats willing to take u further out, to those dive sites or less visited snorkel sites, cause i heard the common ones they bring u to for snorkelling are rather crappy

For a more touristy destination (pamper abit more) try bali or thailand...

Ha ha, yah, Redang NOT Rendang...:lol::lol:

This is top view from snokeling which i believe you can see it and their sand is white too.

But the only problem is 10hrs journey. Now, those tour coach will take a longer free toll

road hence, a 6hrs journey by car becomes a 10hr journey by coach.

Hi, I just came back from Redang Island last weekend, it's really worth the long

journey there, you'll enjoy the snorkeling activities, (at least i did) been there

5 times, saw approx 5ft giant caroupa at Marine Park. I stayed at Redang Beach

Resort, packages include 3x snorkeling trip.

Hope it'll help.

Redang is better than Tioman but its been too commercialised. If you like Robinson Crusoe type of island, Perhentian is the choice!

Those who have been to these 3 islands would find Perhentian is the best place to go snorkelling.

It's a bit further though, about 1 and half hrs further than Redang. U board the boat at Kuala Besut, a town in Trengganu near the border of Kelantan. Its about 10 hrs by car if u use the coastal road and 12 hrs using the NS highway, then cutting thru the Gua Musang route. I've used these 2 routes before.

http://www.perhentianisland.info/

If u asked the locals (Msians), they would recommend Perhentian than Redang. The type of accomodation that u choose will depends on who is going. If its a family with kids, get an air conditioned room although it cost a bit more. If you're all for rugged accomodation, stay at the Long Beach where there is different types of chalets, plenty of food and dive/tour operators to choose from. Long Beach is quite alive at nite, compared to the other resorts in these 3 islands.

I just came back from Perhentian last Sunday, 19th June. Been there for the last 3 years and will be going at least once a year. This time around, i spend 6 hours snorkelling and I got sunburnt on top of my head!

Best time to go is from mid March to early October.

come to think about it, 10hours, thats like to KL and Back!!!

JB to KL is only 3 hrs if you go at 140km/hr. I left at 3.15am and reach at 6.15am by car. (13 June 2005)

JB to KL is only 2 and half hours by bike travelling at 180km/h. Try that in 1996, left at 4am and reach KL at 6.30am.

JB-KL-JB, maybe 7hrs plus some rest.

If u use public transport, try these:-

1) board a bus for Kuala Besut (if any) or Kota Bahru. Reach 8am.

2) get a cab to Perhentian jetty.

3) there are many counters at the jetty for u to book accomodation and the boat. No need to book in Spore.

4) take the boat to Perhentian

5) you're there and u can go for your first snorkelling trip.
