Via Aqua MultiSkimmer

I brough this multi skimmer a month ago and it was skimming ok from what I could see. The problem is it's kinda stopped now. Ive made sure the water levels are high enough. Tried adjusting the intake tube, the Variable Venturi and the water flow rate but it either, over flows the filter, skims but not very well and then sometimes it just stops pumping altogether and I have to prime it again.

I'm going to replace the carbo filter to make sure this is not the cause, but if anyone has any pointers on the best way to set this filter up I'd appreciate it?

Also can anyone tell me if there are any better alternatives to the ViaAqua multi skimmer? (I have no sump and not much space)

Anyone know where I can buy replacement filters also?

Ca anyone recommend a The AquaC Remora? I guess it's pricy but must be better than Via Aqua?
