SRC Member Jenson Posted June 18, 2005 SRC Member Share Posted June 18, 2005 Yesterday I bought two starfish(choco chip and marble) home And today the water in the tank turned murky!!! It was alrite this morning when i saw it however within half an hour's time...the tank turned murky... The skimmer produced a little bit more bubbles and dose that show therez organics causing the water to become murky? The 'stomach'(i suppose) of the starfish is out!! As it would when it feeds however its not retracting it after about an hour. The water dosen't smell bad and the star polyps(OPENED:D), bubble and the fishes seemed fine!Just like it was before the tank turned murky!!Couldn't see any thing dying!!! For now i've added some carbon(seachem's(more than stated)) in the HOB and making sure than the water flows through the carbon, and adjusted the skimmer to produce more 'watery' skimmate. Any experienced reefers who could tell me what is happening and what i could do?MANY tHNX

SRC Member shoelevy Posted June 18, 2005 SRC Member Share Posted June 18, 2005 chocolate chip starfishes are not reef safe, they will eat certain corals and are observed to eat other starfishes present in the aquarium as well. i believe you have alot to read up on
